These yellow hybrid buses were introduced about three years ago, linking the quays of the river Tyne with Newcastle and Gateshead. They weren’t very popular at first, but are now used much more frequently. If I’m down on the Quayside and can’t face the incredibly steep walk back up to Northumberland Street, I’ll hop on one of these. More information here, or for the timetable go here.
(You can tell the photo was taken on a Sunday from the sign just to the right of the bus saying the road is closed. It’s closed for the Quayside Market that takes place every Sunday.)

I’m having a rather hectic day. I think this is the Church of John the Baptist. Can someone confirm for me please? It’s the church on the corner of Grainger Street and Westgate Road.
It always looks strange to me. Too old for its surroundings in the centre of Newcastle.
A little of Newcastle Central Station can be seen to the very right of the photo.

First posted in April of this year, this aerial photograph of the countryside was taken very shortly after takeoff. Can anyone figure out where it shows?

This building at the corner of Grainger Street and Westgate Road was originally the Trustee Savings Bank - better known for a while as the TSB, now Lloyds TSB.
A few years back, when the renovation was under way to convert this place into a bar, something went wrong and the whole of the back of the building collapsed. Chaos ensued; metros were cancelled (one of the metro lines goes underneath) and buses diverted while they shored up the facade to make sure it survived. As always, Timmonet has more (I really should email this guy to thank him; he has a great archive of Newcastle shots and tons of information).
Cassandra’s post from last Wednesday is now where it should be! Check it out, it’s a great pic.
