October 27, 2008 - Street signs

Street signs, Newcastle, UK

Tourist sign, pointing to various tourist attractions and other places.

Who can tell me where this sign is? It’s in, at or around one of the major sights on Newcastle. (If you know, keep quiet and let others have a guess!)

(Trinity House is mentioned on the sign, as mentioned yesterday.)

October 26, 2008 - Two picture Sunday - Trinity House

Trinity House1, Newcastle, UK

Trinity House has housed the the headquarters of The Corporation of The Newcastle upon Tyne Trinity House since 1505. The Corporation ‘has been dedicated to the welfare of seafarers on the North-East coast since the Charter of Incorporation granted by King Henry VIII in 1536′.

Trinity House2, Newcastle, UK

October 25, 2008 - Central Newcastle? Isn’t that all grey and concrete?

This is a very short distance from the Quayside. D (the hubby) says ten seconds; I say a minute. Either way, it’s not exactly far. It’s incredibly quiet; you can’t hear any traffic. It’s another reminder of how Newcastle can change from industrial to country within a few steps. Part of what makes this city special.

October 24, 2008 - Swan House roundabout

Swan House roundabout, Newcastle, UK

On Pilgrim Street, looking towards Swan House roundabout (Swan House is now 55 degrees North, a place where rich people live - but it’s effectively the middle of a roundabout, albeit a very expensive one). Taken on an August evening while out with friends.
