Oh, that is terrible! That’s Borders Silverlink, yes? Sad times!
Yep. The administrators are still hoping that someone will buy the company, but it’s not looking good. Makes me so sad :(
Erm, pardon me if that’s a silly question. But where and what is this?
Yes this is sad - loved the place. I loved browsing around, and getting a coffee, then browsing some more. I have heard though that a lot of people went there, without parting with much cash.
A big shame though.
Is this Borders….book store we are looking at and another Starbucks closing?
I shall miss my local branch in Gateshead because it was so convenient instead of having to traipse to Newcastle. I don’t think there is much chance of them selling it as a going concern as the current owners only bought it a few months ago and obviously haven’t been able to make it pay. I feel guilty now as I have just been on Amazon buying my Christmas books, I should have gone to Borders.
Sorry Daniel. It’s Borders, a big bookstore that is great at supporting local authors and new authors, on Silverlink - a retail park on North Tyneside. The company has gone into administration, and is unlikely to find a buyer I think. It’s supposedly been driven out of business by competition from internet retailers - but I personally think that that’s mainly true down South. The stores in Silverlink and Team Valley turn quite a profit from what I’ve heard, but I doubt that any of the stores would be bought individually. If I won the lottery, I would LOVE to buy just those two.
They both have Starbucks stores in (as does the one in York). That Starbucks is my favourite place to write. I won’t know what to do with myself if or when it really goes.
Yes - sad times.
And Ash I guess if the Borders closes the Starbucks will close with it :(
I recall going to the McD’s behind the photographer with my ex once. Not too far from the cinema where we watched our last film together (Goal!) before she left the country back in 2006.
*sigh*
I’m devastated by Borders closing, dear Beth! I took a similar photo in Borders York today and it was so sad to see the shelf almost empty and everything going. I spent almost 3 hours routing throught the books and other items left. So sad! It is a lovely store in York in the middle of clothes shops and a very terrible Debenhans. It will be terribly missed! Hope yo’re a bit better. Hugs. A.
