I took this while in Gateshead one Sunday. I thought it was an interesting perspective on the Tyne Bridge and the Civic, not to mention the church.
I didn’t notice the large black statue while I was taking the photo, nor while I was looking at it since. I didn’t spot it, in fact, til I was resizing the picture to post here. I’ve now cropped the picture so you can see it more easily.

That is a really cool picture! It looks like a montage or something Escher would have come up with if he’d been a photographer.
Memories!!!! I used to go down this street nearly every day when I lived in Gateshead. *sigh*
I also used to wander this street…and I’d love to know what the black statue is?!?
What a fabulous shot!
Thanks Bob! I’m really pleased with it :)
Hi Heather, hope they are good memories!
chickensue - click through ‘more information here’ and there’s some information on the gateshead council site. it’s a statue of a figure in a sack race - bet you never would have guessed that!
Thanks Rachel :)
Yeppers! Good memories indeed. I miss Gateshead like blazes. Auckland in New Zealand just doesn’t cut it. *sigh*
Love it!
The kids climbing make it, I think.
Yes, I did like that touch. Accidental greatness :)
