The quality of this pic isn’t quite as good as I’d hoped, but I love the colours.
Outside the old town hall, which used to be down near the Bigg Market, there were barrels of burning tar outside during events and council meetings. These flaming torches are the equivalent for the new building. If you hire the Civic Centre for events, you can pay to have them on, but for important events such as the ruby anniversary of the building being opened and it being visited by King Harald V of Norway - they are lit.
I have a little video which I’m trying to get sorted for sometime this week, showing the flambeaux burning.
The first time I saw these lit, I honestly thought I must be imagining that they were aflame. I thought it was just clever lighting.
