These panels are on Magnet House on Gallowgate. The building was built in the 1930s for the General Electric Company and the subject of the panels is ‘Power’. I walked past them many times without noticing they were there.
There’s a bit more information here.

I have lived most of my life in and around Newcastle and I wasn’t aware of them until a few years ago when they featured in an internet quiz called whereabouts in Newcastle. I had to go round and have a look for myself. They are quite impressive. They seem to have withstood the ravages of time better than the building.
I am going to apply for two new eyes, located in the top of my head, and only for use in Newcastle.
I, like others have lived here for all but 10 years (62 in all) and still have not seen everything up above.
Interesting to read what you say mrs K, as I can remember that I didn’t start really noticing the beautiful buildings in our City Centre (above shop window level) until the demolition of a lot of buildings for the building of the ‘Eldon Square Shopping Centre’.
At that point you could see things that you couldn’t see before (because of all the buildings) and from a distance (near the Co-op Department Store on Newgate Street, actually) I suddenly noticed the lovely ‘Grainger/Dobson buildings along the South side of Clayton Street, in the distance across the newly-demolished area.
I was hooked!!!
