This white building is what used to be known as Swan House, now called 55 Degrees North and a prestigious place to live, with penthouses with fantastic views. (Unfortunately it also means you live in the middle of a roundabout.)
Anyway, it also contains a day spa called City Retreat that I blogged about recently.

Yes great shot and I haven’t seen it looking so good. Well I didn’t work there, but used to go there when I didn’t work - to sign on the dole…
The views must be great but not sure if I’d want to call it home.
…and because of the ‘dole’ memories, it’ll always be Swan House to me. I’m sure I speak for others…
Not the best looking building from the outside in my opinion. The modern rectangle lines don’t do much for me so I would never have guessed it was considered prestigious on the interior….good central city location though.
I hate to admit it but it has been improved since it’s Swan House days. The only reason I ever visited the blighted island was to see the copy of the Royal Arcade but that was a disappointment too. I wonder if it is true that the original stones from the arcade are still buried under a playing field in Shieldfield, Peter might know.

Agree with Dave - the dole memories are pretty bad ones! It really was a miserable place then.
