I’ve got a bit obsessed with reflections recently. This reflection of St Thomas Church and the buildings at the top of Northumberland Street in Haymarket metro station was shared with people in the facebook fan pages a few days ago. Why not join if you want to chat about Newcastle and get occasional preview shots?

Nice reflections…
shame about the inside of this new build - I don’t like the multi-coloured panels they’ve used - it’s just like a 1970s subway or something.
The reflective quality is amazing…wouldn’t like to keep those windows clean! (you have a great eye for unusual pic’s) So, this is a new Haymarket structure. It appears the building is dome shaped.
Now we are very curious what it is like inside.
Thanks Dave! I quite like the inside too - having said that, do you mean the platforms or the upstairs?
Ash, I hadn’t thought of that :) It’s a strange shaped building for sure. When (or if!!!) they ever finish the bloomin’ thing, I’m going to do a photo tour - Cassandra asked me to what seems like years ago :)
But to keep you going:

Cool links pictures and a very cool building! I’m not usually “into” the super modern looking buildings but this is very cool-on the outside at least. Thanks for the additional contruction pic’s…already looking forward to some interior shots down the road.
Another fine example of your talent for spotting the right shot and capturing it for posterity, Beth. I can’t help wondering though why we needed that huge monstrosity on the surface for what is after all an underground station especially slap bang between the church and the war memorial. The old station wasn’t pretty but at least it was discreet and didn’t try to overpower the beautiful old buildings. I know it houses offices and shops but did we really need more of those. Just let us hope that nobody has any bright ideas about Monument Station. I will put my soapbox away now.
Thanks Ash!
Thanks Alf. I quite agree about the office space etc above Haymarket… I can’t help but wonder how long it will take to fill. The station itself is much nicer than previously, but the space above? I’ll reserve judgement for the minute. and yes, it’s much too close to the war memorial.
Beth I must say - I meant I’m not keen on the ground level bits. Love the platform areas though.
