  They are by an urban artist called space invader. He travels round the world and ‘invades’ various cities - including Newcastle. I first saw the invasion in my home town of Perth and was chuffe to see he’s been to my new home town as well!! Check the URL above and you’ll see other examples.

  Artists were commisioned as part of Design Event ‘07 to create installations around Newcastle.
  Some of the designs are quite good! You may be able to still find the ‘gargoyle’ designs in High Bridge.
  I think the ‘white leaves’ are still there behind the train station in Forth Street.
  But the ‘green vines’ at Central Station are not there now.
