The awesome little Heaton Perk, on Heaton Road. It’s a must-visit if you live anywhere near it. It’s absolutely wonderful, one of my favourite five spots in Newcastle.

Is the cafe in the park?
It looks wheelchair friendly.
Looks great. Is it far from the centre? Ciao. A.
Mrs K - it’s on Heaton Park Road, not in the park itself but nearby. Not sure about accessibility.
Antonella it’s a short bus ride from teh centre on the number 1 bus to Heaton :) see here
And cassie, you know i’m going to ask - what are your other fave places in ncl??? ;o)
Why have I never heard of this place?! Hope to check it out soon, cheers Cassandra
Oh dear, my favourite places, eh?
1. Hancock Pub, next to the Civic Centre. (If anything, just for the restrooms… haha!) Some really great memories there. And the Civic Centre itself, too, the sculpture of the Tyne God being my favourite sculpture in the area.
2. Anywhere on the coast, Tynemouth’s sunday markets are great, it’s so beautiful there. I didn’t go nearly enough.
3. Central Station- great building, great links to the country
4. Sandyford will always hold a special place in my heart, especially the parks. (The shoetree!) and the cemeteries.
5. St. Nicholas Church has some great history, as well as the castle gate
6. The Quayside is fun to visit, if you can avoid the area at night and when there are drunken chavs about. And I love looking over at the
7. The big wide pedestrian bridge in Jesmond Dene. I like to go sit out there at night and just think things over. The traffic noises are not overwhelming, yet it’s got a great “white noise” factor.
8. I have to add Heaton Perk in here. Fantastic little place.
9. Grey Street and the awesome architecture.
10. The people. I love the accent and the friendliness. Especially Beth and our blog readers!
Looks like my kind of place…cheers Cassandra!
I didn’t know about this place at all - it looks superb! Will definitely give it a try.
…and today (Saturday) I did go - and it’s great! I’m really pleased you brought this place to my attention.
A short walk from Byker Metty!
