Taken about a month ago, from the bridge between platforms 2 and 3. Looking towards the Castle Keep, which is unfortunately out of shot.
Newcastle Central is a Grade I listed building that was designed by John Dobson in 1850. The opening ceremony was attended by Queen Victoria. The roof has three curved, arched spans and the design inspired the ‘house style’ for subsequent GNER main stations. (Incidentally, anyone interested in the buildings of Newcastle generally will find the John Dobson link interesting.)

Ooooh! Gorgeous view! I really love looking at railway stations, and my favourite is Newcastle Central Station. :D
Thanks Heather :) I was quite pleased with it too. The curves make me happy :o)
Lovely. Is that the bridge featured in the first Harry Potter movie?
Hi Beth, Il love this shop and I love Newcastle station. Look a bit like the York one. Very pictoresque. There is very interesting pub an the entrance of the Metro. Amazing interiors.
Ciao. Antonella.
