This sign is in the pavement in Cullercoats.
It refers to the Waggonways project to open up the old Waggonways to walkers, cyclists and horseriders.
There’s an old children’s song that goes
clap your hands for Daddy coming down the wagon way
a pocket full of money and a cartload full of hay
D’s grandma used to sing it to him when he was a kid. It’s better in a true Geordie accent.

Hi Beth, I like the Geordie accent. I do not often understand it, but it sounds nice and friendly. People in Newcastle are usually very friendly. Got some lovely friends over there. I just step off the train there and I can already feel the kindness in the air…Ciao. Antonella
Hi Antionella. This is based on fact. The North-East/Geordie accent is identified as a warm easy to understand accent. Its preffered communicatioin language. In the forces a lot of communicators are from the north east What you do get up here due to all of the bad things which have happened over the years such as unemployment people take knoicks well on the chin and just get on with it thats why you get a cheery approachable person up here. Hope I havent waffled too much.
Taking about Children’s writings, I found this on the council website:
“2008 is the 25th anniversary of The Northern Children’s Book Festival.”
“Gala Day will be at Newcastle Civic Centre on Saturday November 22nd. This free event is OPEN to all and is the largest annual reading celebration for young people in Europe.”

Its Free entry - but you still need to get the free tickets.
Is that your sort of thing B?
Mike
Do you know are there any more words to Clap hands for Daddy, we were singing it to our granddaughter and got as far as ‘cartload of hay’ and could not remember any more. Would appreciate a reply thank you.
