September 26, 2008 - The students are back

busy path, Newcastle, UK

It’s not just the dodgy headgear that gives it away. It’s the fact that even last week, I could walk into town along this path from Jesmond metro and see one or two other people at the most. Today it was pretty busy. It’ll probably get more so, while the students get to know Newcastle and go to all the events put on for them, before quietening down when they all start lectures.

The left hand side of the path is the cycle lane, which is why most people are on the right.

September 25, 2008 - Jesmond Parish Church

Jesmond Parish Church, Newcastle, UK

Jesmond Parish Church a week or so ago in the morning sunshine. This church does a fantastic candlelit carol service in the run up to Christmas - it’s not far away now, but to see the colour of the sky here you’d never think it.

September 24, 2008 - Civic Centre

A different angle of the Civic Centre. To the left are the windows, to the right are bars you can see in this picture. The Tyne God was straight ahead and to my right as I took the shots.

September 23, 2008 - Autumn’s here

the birds, newcastle, uk

Yesterday was the equinox, when night and day are of equal length. As my husband and I set off for work, we encountered these birds. With the heavy grey sky and chilly morning air, I felt nervous going underneath them.

I’d like to know what you think about Newcastle Daily Photo. What would you like to see more of? Less of? Do you like themes, for a week or a few days? Do you think the photos should be taken only in Newcastle itself, or are surrounding areas OK? North Tyneside? Northumberland? Gateshead? Where is ‘too far away’?

Drop into the comments, say hi even if you’re just passing through. It’s nice to hear who is out there and what you all think!

And if one photo a day just isn’t enough, don’t forget to check out flickr. I’m still posting photos of the Heritage Open Days - I took over 400 in two days!
