Look closely at this picture.Yes your right…they are shoes in that tree…in fact there are hundreds of pairs of shoes all over quite a few trees in Armstrong park.At one time it was the shoe tree…now it’s definately,’trees’. I have never been able to find out the history behind how this all started but its quite a shock when you first see it!

As you can see the office blocks sandwich the old church.I hope they can save it and do something useful with it..maybe a music venue of some kind? (looks like one of the office workers is taking her dinner on the steps)

I’m not a religious person but I do have a thing for beautiful churches.Just before the Tyne Bridge there are some ugly office blocks,but hidden away behind those is this church.Sorry to say,but it is no longer in use.This is detail from the old entrance.Tomorrow I will show you a better view of the church.
