In a complete contrast from last Wednesday, here’s a nice lush green tract of land known as Jesmond Dene. There’s a petting zoo down there, as well as a nice bit of river, a pet cemetery, and some lovely walking paths.

Lush is the first word that came to mind when I saw this photo on the portal. It’s quite beautiful!
My favourite jogging area!
… and I’m still annoyed that I never got down into Jesmond Dene while it was snowy. Oh well.
A complete contrast to the whole of the last week or so!
I love Jesmond Dene - its one of my favourite places anywhere. My family still lives close by, and it’s usually the first place I go when when we visit Newcastle.
Over the Christmas period it was beautiful in the snow. Caught a brief glimpse of a kingfisher zipping by at high speed - the blue and orange blur against the white snow was spectacular.
Most people go for the stream, the waterfall or the mill as representative of the Dene but I think this is a wonderful view, so many shades of green. It is nice to think that Lord Armstrong, the great industrialist, gave this peaceful area to the people of Newcastle. Imagine what it must have been like to have the dene as your back garden as he did. The city is full of iconic buildings and bridges but I sometimes think we forget how many splendid parks and green spaces we have too. I love Newcastle, me.
If it snows again, B, get down there! I’d love to see it in the snow!
I <3 Newcastle, too alf!
