Based on the title of the posting I was expecting some sort of massive doughnut structure high atop a hill :-) I love the rather huddled look of the customers: you can tell this sidewalk cafe ain’t in Paris!
Dining Al Fresco in November may be a bit chilly. People in the north are a hardy lot!
The black facade next door looks quite interesting. BTW, what street is the bagel shop on?
It is at the top end of Grey Street just a few doors from Greggs and comes highly recommended by my granddaughter who used to frequent the place when she worked opposite. The black building, I believe has been converted in to apartments.
Alf, Thank you! I could listen to your descriptions and stories all day.
The Bagel of the North signage fits in quite well on this beautiful road, much better than other signs I’ve seen in town. Grey Street is such an elegant lovely street…another one of my favorites.
Ash, thank you for those few kind words. Grey Street is indeed beautiful and when I am in the town I always try make a detour to make sure I walk up it and gaze at the buildings.
…don’t know - not sure if I think this is a lame name or not. That said, Newcastle is littered with great puns for eateries. How’s about The Great North Bun & Pasta La Vista in Gosforth..?? PLV, who, by the way, do great breakfast sandwiches. Anyway, I digress…
It’s a good name isn’t it? But I haven’t sampled their wares yet!
They certainly have good coffee: Illy
The bagels aren’t bad either! :)

Has my memory gone or what - did that not used to be an opticians?
