Ohhhh! Every Saturday when I was a kid, I would pass through Newcastle and see this clock and sign. This was around 40 years ago, and it’s great that it’s still standing there. Fantastic! Thanks for a memory that I had totally forgotten. :D

52 years ago it was always ‘ meet you under the clock’ before we went dancing at the Oxford, Old Assembly rooms or out with a new date. Wonder if this generation still meet ‘under the clock’.

Heather - It’s amazing that the clock is still up there and going strong after all this time! i’m glad you have such fond memories of it!
Mrs K - Judging by the number of younger people that congregate around Grey’s Monument, i’d peg that as the new meeting space. Was the monument there before the clock?
