July 13, 2008 - Two Picture Sunday!: St. John’s Well

st johns well 1, newcastle, uk

You guys get two pictures today! Mostly because I wanted you guys to see the detail of the above St. John’s Well, and because posting has been spotty lately! Sorta like a mini-catch up!

This Victorian well head in Armstrong Park is
made of stone with some iron supports. It is located in a curved wall approximately
7 metres long and an area of stone paving creates a plaza in front of the well. A
faux medieval inscription reads ‘Ye Well of King John’.

Never seen this before! Whereabouts is it?

Pity the bl**dy taggers have found it. I’d love to get a hold of those taggers and ram their spray cans right where the sun don’t shine. They spoil beauty spots and national treasures with their mess. *sigh*

B - It’s on the lowest path above Ouseburn road. between Benton Bank and Jesmond Vale near the shoe trees.
