Lovely shot!

The miner stands on top of Burt Hall I think…..part of the Northumbria University city campus where they now “do” conservation of art, but it was originally the headquarters of the Northumberland Miners Union……now, that’s quite a change of use!!

Mo, Burt Hall: dedicated to Thomas Burt a local miner and miner’s son who in 1863 was elected secretary and agent of the Northumberland Miner’s Association.

Cass that’s a stunning photo. I’ve never seen a yellow sky like that before, was this at dawn or dusk?

P.S. - Cass, I replied to your query about the Fenwicks Window Song, in the Armstong Park posting.

Great photo. I think, and my wife does too, that the angel should have been made along the lines of a miner and this image would in our opinion have been ideal. MikeM

Hi Guys just a tip, I generally use this site - http://www.visitnewcastlegateshead.com

for all the goodness that is coming up in Newcastle upon Tyne. Some of the cool free event stuff like the Chinese New Year, EAST’08 festival and the AV Festival will be comming up real soon - most are free entry!

Cheers

Mike.

Mike1, It was originally a blue sky at sundown, but I antiqued the photo and then boosted the color to make it seem like dusk. I really liked the effect.

And thanks for the link, i’ll be using that!

I’ve been in front of that building thousands of times and I’ve never seen it!Maybe it’s because I’m such a small person and Itry not to look upwards-that makes me feel even smaller!
