This building is now used as a dance club but in the 80’s and 90’s it was a live venue.It only held about 350 people but some of the names that played here are well known to all of you.Oasis played here and lasted about 2 songs after one of the Gallagher brother got involved in a fight with the crowd! Even David Bowie played a secret gig here. This post is for P+ who no doubt spent many nights propping up the bar!

hey thanks chris - i never got a chance to visit “the building formally known as riverside” when i was home and have heard only that it “changed…” (not as dramatic as the mayfair though!)
i used to go to the riverside when it was still a ‘co-operative’ members club and the 350 capacity was often ignored!
favourite concerts included faith no more, curve, babes in toyland, hole, manic street preachers, and many more unknown/obscure gems… what a venue! the saturday club nights were legendary too.
oh and, yes, i propped up the bar many times….!
