And after we tore ourselves away from the first beacon, we walked down the footpath at the back to the next one. This is the flame, and some of the people crowded around.
There are many people calling for the event to be repeated. I’m in two minds… I’d love to experience it again, maybe get out into the countryside this time - but part of the excitement was it being a once in a lifetime thing. It wouldn’t be so special if it was repeated.
I have some more pics. If anyone is (still!!) interested I could stick them onto flickr?

Beth, please let us see whatever you have got, the whole thing is fascinating. I would love to have been there. It would be nice if it could be an annual event but I suspect the cost would be prohibitive, especially the health and safety aspect.
I’m interested!
In the portal, I was attracted by the torch against the evening sky. Of course I had to go back to your previous posts to understand this. Sounds like a fantastic event.
Yes I agree with Alf completely - I love this whole thing and was sorry I couldn’t see any of it. Let’s see all you have!
Thanks all! I’ll put the rest of the photos onto flickr in the week and post a link when I’m done. But there are more on flickr already if you haven’t seen them yet :)
Beautiful photos! I’ve had a look at the ones on flickr as well. Must have been a tremendous event! Lovely. Ciao. A.
