Happy New Year and I hope you enjoyed last night. Sorry for the delay. I didn’t have a picture ready - I meant to sort it out yesterday, but I had a really bad day.
Today’s theme day is Changes. The Royal Victoria Infirmary is one of the major hospitals in Newcastle. Recently it’s had a new wing built, the aptly-named New Victoria Wing. When I was there recently, I took this picture.
I would have liked to have posted a picture that was more representative of the changes going on in Newcastle in general recently, but this was all I can do on short notice. That’s maybe teach me to look at what the theme day earlier than 7pm on the day in future.

great architectural image. truly magnificent. such lines and light. Happy New Year and I wish you many good photos in 2010!
Improving healthcare, now that’s a positive change!
Where is everyone?
I have spent a great deal of time at the RVI over the years with both of my parents. The staff there are amazing people. Good to see it has some modern updates. The entrace to this hospital is quite stately so I’m thinking that the outside of this new building is modern? It is so interesting how they blend the old with the new.
I passed this building going to school on the bus from Whickham View to Jesmond everyday when I was a teen….quite a journey!
Don’t worry, Beth, that’s a very cool picture. High-gloss magazine material. The theme day theme seems to have been changed at very short notice. A lot of people were caught a bit cold.
A happy new year to you and to all visitors of this great blog!
Thanks Julie.
Yes Bridget!
Ash, it’s been quiet the last few days, but I think people have been out celebrating. I’m sure it will liven up round here again soon :) I’ll get a pic of the outside of the building next time I’m up that way. And yes, that’s quite a journey to school!
Thanks Daniel. I’m glad you like it. Happy New Year to you too!
