  When I was a kid, someone told me that the red lantern near the pinnacle is lit red when there has been a fatal road accident in the area. I’ve noticed that it is only lit occasionally. Is this an urban myth? It sounds slightly bizarre and morbid really, but I have heard this story a few times over the years.

  I look to one of your readers such as Alf - have you heard this?

If nothing else, next time the Heritage Open Days are on I’ll pop in and ask one of the guides if it’s true (I think they’re all people who work there).
