Someone mentioned the swimming pool that fills up with sea water the other day. You can see the corner of it on this photo.

Yes that was me that mentioned the pool! Yes, this shows it well. Simple pleasures yesteryear… people swimming in a walled-off bit of sea!
Something tells me it won’t be as warm as the one I saw in Townsville a couple of months back… Mind, not so many jellyfish either!
Hi Beth,
I just discovered your website and am so happy I did! I am a native Californian who went to school off and on (Church High, just to name a few) in Newcastle. Both of my parents were born and bred Geordies who, after the 2nd WW came to California for work with a major airline. They returned many years later to Newcastle to retire….sadly, both have since passed away. I still have many friends and family in and around Newcastle and I stay in touch. Long story short, I may have been born in the U.S. however, Newcastle is in my soul with many memories and these daily photos tug at my heart strings….in a good way!
Great to see such super weather you’ve been having…although we do love the pictures of the snow.
Warm Regards and I appreciate your photographs more than you know!
Ashley
Guess who swam in it - learned in both the rock pool at Whitley Bay and then when that was empty - walk along to Tynemouth and yes - jump in and keep going. Bliss.
Bye the way it was always about 3 degrees warmer than the sea.
Glad you all like the pics :) I love this site!
Mosh I’ll take the cold over the jellyfish!
Thanks Ashley!
Mrs K - again, love the memories :)
