
If you visit the Quaker meeting house when it’s open to the public, and if you go into the garden at the back, you can see this sign. It’s from 1698 when the Quaker meeting house on Pilgrim Street first opened.
The Quakers (or Friends, as they are known) moved to their current building on Archbold Terrace in 1961 but they took the sign with them. I don’t blame them. I would have taken it too.
