The Victoria Library is an unused building just to the south of Heaton Park. Anyone know anything more about it?

I know it was open when I used to live in Newcastle before, but I never went there. So I share some of the blame for it being shut :o(
I have a couple of shots of it on my flickr photostream. Took on 4th July when you will have been having your bbq in the park. I was on my way to the hairdressers with a nasty headache. here.
It’s being redeveloped soon apparently. Bloody flats and restaurant I think. Why not make it a lovely community centre? What a waste.
I just googled and found this. could have been a great use for the building, but that’s from back in 2001. I guess it’s not happening any more.
