Today’s photo is brought to you by Mike! It’s the Northumbria University East Campus at Night! Lovely, isn’t it?
You, too, can enter your photographs of your favourite places in Newcastle to be featured this week at Newcastle Daily Photo! For more information, click here.

It was looking at this photo that reminded me - they do look like liferafts on the courtyard. Do the students really need them!
Yes, incase any of them drown in the courtyard…
They are part of the seating design of the courtyard - it would be barren without those sculptured features.
Jonathan Ive (designer of the Ipod, Imac, Iphone etc.) will be officially opening this new campus, as he did his degree at Northumbria University.
City Campus East, the new home of Northumbria Law School, Newcastle Business School and the School of Design, will be officially opened by Jonathan Ive CBE on Tuesday 8th July 2008.
Jonathan, who studied Design for Industry at the School of Design, is one of Northumbria University’s most prestigious and successful graduates. He was recognised as Designer of the Year in 2003 by the Design Museum London. He is currently senior vice president of industrial design at Apple and has contributed to the design of iconic products such as the iPod, iMac and iPhone.
Guests from within the University and partners and friends from the private and public sector will be invited to attend the event.
Might be able to see him/photo him if you loiter in the courtyard, he has to cross it to get in and out!

I actually liked them. I like sculptured features that are recognisable and if they are useful too - that is a bonus.
Not able to loiter in courtyard - at 70, not able to loiter much anywhere else either.
I loved the information and well done Jonathan.
