January 26, 2008 - Tesco

Tesco, Newcastle, UK

Kingston Park Metro stop is the home of a giant Tesco Extra. The fruit a veg here is a little more expensive than the Morrisons in Byker, but there is so much variety and stuff you can’t get in Morrisons.

Where do you guys shop for groceries?

i quite like the photograph, just wish that it were a bit more sharper. maybe you could try doing that in photoshop.
we buy our groceries from our local baniya (grocer); or we just order them over the phone and they deliver it free of charge

it was dusk and i was struggling to hold bags of shopping in the brutal wind. i’m surprised this turned out at all. What’s with all the wind lately? is this common this time of year?

Hi Cassandra. Yup - it’s really quite common for it to be this windy in January and February

Common? We normally have some wind, but I think it’s got much much worse the last two or three years.

I shop at Asda. I don’t do Tesco if I can help it. Do my top up shops at Coop in town. I also highly recommend Lidl for fruit juice, olive oil and various other things I’ve forgotten right now :)

Last year I didn’t go out at all during January because of the wind…
I tried to get all the fruit and veggies from Greenmarket whenever I could.
That picture reminds me of all the metro trips I did to and from the airport last year, and it saddens me a bit,but it’s nice. For me,it reflects the movement of the metro perfectly.

That Tesco’s store at Kingston Park in Newcastle, is the biggest Tesco’s store in the United Kingdom!
