Four more days at the beach, and we’ll head inland. This beach features the most surfers, all clad in warm wetsuits, of course!
In other news, happy 24th birthday to me!

We’ll return to the Whitley Bay area tomorrow, but first, this commercial break:

If you visited the City Centre yesterday, you would have come across a big to-do in front of the Civic Center. Newcastle was visited by HRH Prince Philip, who was present at the rededication of a sculpture titled “The Response”, depicting men leaving for battle. The sculpture has recently undergone a cleaning, removing more than 80 years of dirt and grime. Before, viewers were unable to see the textures in the clothing, but now they are able to again. It was interesting to see the bustle in the days leading up to the dedication as Flowers were planted (in October!) and the grounds were spruced up.
I’m posting a second picture, one of the prince himself, because it wasn’t really a photo of Newcastle, and I didn’t think it was right to make it a seperate post. So enjoy two pics, it won’t happen very often!

This clock stands on the beach overlooking Whitley Bay. The steps lead right down almost to the waves!
