October 17, 2006 - Camera tattoo.

tatt.jpg

I finally got this done. I imagined it being higher up my neck but I still really like it where it is. I have Maries’ address but if Rodney and Susan(and anyone else who helped me with choosing an idea for a design) can get in touch I will send you a Newcastle postcard…thanks to all.

That’s a great one Chris! I know you said you wanted it at the back of you neck, but i think the place is fine too.

Superbe tatouage (cela ne fait-il pas trop mal ?) . mais pour changer d’objectif tu fais comment ;o))

Superb tattooing (that does not make it too badly?). but to change objective you make how ;o)

I can not help but wonder how much a camera manufacturer would pay to have their brand name added to the tattoo (perhaps only virtually). Marketing people always love innovative advertising concepts. Chris the photog becomes Chris the international model - Paris in the spring, Milan in the fall! :-)

Chris, amazing and great..now in addition to your DP business card you have this to show you’re THE photographer :-)

Brian has a great idea. I think you have just the right spot available on the camera to ad a manufacturer logo or you could make the lens cap all black and add the logo. It is an interesting notion.

JOY - I suspect that the major challenge to the idea is whether or not Chris could deal with the emotion trauma of the tattoo as “Fine Decorative Art” being reduced to the tattoo as “Mere Commercal Advertising”. On the other hand, the advertizing budgets of most camera manufacturers are sufficient to help Chris cope. :-)

CHRIS - This “emotion trauma” post is meant to be a little, old-fashioned, satiric humour. If it doesn’t bring a smile to your lips, please delete it and accept my apologies! (Good Lord, I am becoming sensitive as I grow up! Hmm … I must have my hormone levels checked! :-) ) Cheers - Brian.

It’s up there with the conundrums; who cuts the hairdressers hair, and who fixes the dentisits teeth - who photographs the back of the photographers neck?

How did you manage that one?

“Chris the photog becomes Chris the international model”…………….Oh Brian PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ad collapses in a heap, in agony from the pain caused by uncontrollable laughter

Brian–thanks for the laugh—I have very few morals so Canon can bring it on!!!
Apple–you got me on that one–the tattooist took the shot…the only one ever on my blog that I didnt take.

Neat!

(BTW - the translation of Olivier’s comment is “Superd tattoo - hope it doesn’t hurt too much - but how do you change the lens?)

BrianG said,

Ham - much thanks for the translation!

Fantastic. Who took the photo of the photographer’s neck? Did you use a retarder or a little helper?
I wonder how long it takes to have a tattoo like this one done?

Wow, that turned out great, Chris! Ever think of doing a tattoo series to show us all your other tats?
